How long does a roof replacement take?

A typical asphalt-shingle roof replacement on a 2,000 sqft home takes 1–3 days of active work in 2026. Metal roofing takes 3–7 days because of the additional underlayment and panel sequencing. Tile / slate takes 5–10 days. Add 1–2 days if the roof deck needs replacement (discovered during tear-off). Schedule weather-dependent: most crews won't roof in active rain or below 40°F because adhesive strips on shingles need warmth to seal.
