Installed flooring runs $3–$22 per sqft in 2026 depending on material. Carpet is cheapest at $3–$8/sqft installed; luxury vinyl plank (LVP) $4–$10; engineered hardwood $7–$14; solid hardwood $9–$16; porcelain tile $9–$18; natural stone $14–$22+. On a 1,500 sqft project, materials are typically 50–60% of total cost, installation labor 35–45%, and removal/disposal of the old floor adds $1–$3/sqft. LVP has overtaken carpet as the most-installed flooring in new construction because it's waterproof, durable in high-traffic areas, and visually convincing as wood.
